Unfortunately the City does not have enough funding to repave all streets in poor condition. With limited funding, our response to resurfacing requests is limited to minor pavement and pothole repairs only. Our Street Maintenance Department will assess your street and determine whether temporary measures might be appropriate. Please understand that this work may be limited to pothole or other minor repairs, and that we have many similar requests. We will do our best to respond in a timely manner. The backlog of streets in Oakland needing pavement currently is $435 million and growing.

  ...and what do you think of our tires and shock absorbers? Who is paying for these because the potholes are damaging our cars? Not the City, not the person who decides which potholes are repaired. But you, the ones who are paying the Cities-budget, but don't get a SIMPLE thing in return as repairing a pothole. I lived in Third World countries and the roads there had less potholes than here in Oakland...

  Thank you City for putting up the same answer to any request/comment we have as citizens. We are spending 600 million usd for infrastructure, but potholes cannot be repaired. Pathetic.
