your good deed was rewarded by the cat spirits and the Good Lord during this Easter Lent season. we just *lost* our 18 year old cat due to fatal illness. we feel very badly that the owener went thru some tought and sad times while her/his cat was *lost*, but, then again, thanks to your kindness, Found!!!!!!. tell the owner not to let the cat OUT again and keep a better eye on it if they do.

I have to agree.........this owner does not deserve this cool kitty if it is allowed to roam in crummy weather.

Perhaps I wasn't clear. I was mistaken in thinking this was the cat that wanders around Orange and Bishop Streets. I should have known, because that cat, although fit, was definitely not malnourished. I tracked down the owners of the cat I used to see and both owner and cat are fine. This particular cat shown in the picture is still very much malnourished and fortunate that Greg took him in. This cats owners are still at large!

Not sure if this is the case, but it may be that the cat ran off--and not that the owner let's the cat out. Also, it is/was spring break time--the cat may have been left under someone else's care. I am keeping my fingers crossed for a good resolution!

this evening, 20 March, this same cat tried to get into the building at 625 Orange street, corner of Bishop. Don't know if the cat lives there, but is seen, and heard always there abouts at night time. When the dogs bark, we know its somewhere about. Most likely the silly stupid owner decides to let the cat roam at night and does not worry about dogs, cars, or other bad things outthere that can happen to the cat. shame, shame, shame, on this owner. Please come forward.

Maybe this cat no longer has an owner... which is a shame. Living in East Rock I've seen many cats "let out" when a person moves to a different city. Animal Haven in North Haven may help you place him. They've helped me in the past with a litter of stray kittens.

Seems as though someone needs to pick this cat up and take it to a feline rescue group. Reports that the cat is malnourished indicate that the "owner" could care less about the cat.
Time for a new home for the little guy. Anyone live in that area who could help ?

Greg, Please search under "lost & found" on Craigslist for both New Haven & Hartford. I believe I saw that 2 different people were missing an orange & white cat? I know one of them was a trucker from out of state that misses his cat... I don't remember who had the other one listed? Good Luck! Please post whatever becomes of this adorable kitty.

Been seeing this cat around Bishop as well. He was out in the snow again this morning. Set him up a blanket/bed on the porch and fed him but can't take him in due to wife's severe allergy. I really hope his owner or any owner for that matter is found soon

This is my cat. He used to be a stray cat and I adopted him a while ago.
Since I adopted him, he has had a warm place to stay (in my apartment), I have fed him twice a day, and he has gotten all the veterinary care he needs (vaccinations, neutering, deworming, microchip, etc.). In his previous life prior to adoption, he used to be a stray cat. Therefore, being used to be outdoors, he gets very restless if he has to stay exclusively indoors and wants to go outside on a daily basis (he can autonomously go in and out of my apartment). His veterinary told me that, given his previous life style, he should be an indoor-and-outdoor cat.
He always knows where his home is (and where he gets his food), but he also likes to roam the neighborhood. Please do not feed him, because otherwise he might get confused.

Glad to hear the cat is yours and that you are caring for him.......just wonder why he stays out in the cold.
I have certainly had friendly neighborhood cats who like to camp out at my house when they have a home already, but they rarely hang out when it's snowy and cold.
Does this little guy get confused easily ?? Maybe put a collar on him so the neighbors know he's yours (other than the microchip).

I adopted the cat on 1 April 2013. The time when he had to spend the days and nights out in the snow and cold was before I adopted him. Now he has a warm place to stay in my apartment and gets fed twice a day.
The veterinary told me that, given his previous life style, he should be an indoor-and-outdoor cat, and it is very clear that he gets restless if he has to stay exclusively inside the house for a whole day. Therefore, I have installed a cat door so that he can autonomously go inside and outside the house as he pleases.
I put a blue collar (with white fishes depicted) around his neck. Also, one week ago, I ordered him a small plastic plate which has my name, address, phone number and e-mail engraved, and which will be attached to his collar. Currently, the name tag is on the way by postal mail. Not visible by eye, he also has a microchip implanted in order to uniquely identify him and me as his owner (in case the name tag will fall off).
The cat is very social, likes kind people and loves to be petted. He should know where his home is and where he gets his food. Please don't feed him, because otherwise he might get confused. However, he loves to make friends and to visit them.
Please contact me should there be any issues or concerns regarding my cat. I am always happy to come and pick him up at any time.

Thank you very much for your comment! This is the same cat. His name is Candide. Yes, he has a blue & white 'speckled' collar. It is a blue collar with small white fishes depicted. Hello there Cat Lovers, this is a beautiful orange tabby cat. I am so happy he has an owner. To anyone looking for a cat, just know that the tabbies are the best -especially the orange ones. I have an orange tabby Milo here in Michigan, and he loves to go outside when he wants. He does not wander far, but I do not feel I can deprive him of his love for the outdoors. He is in at night, always. Cats are territorial and I have a large yard with trees and not much traffic. I could not let him out if I had a busy road in front of my house. He is 10 years old and 18 lbs and a gentle, lovable cat. I hope this promotes more male orange tabbies to be adopted, you just cant get a bad one.

I also have an adorable orange tabby male cat, 8 yrs old and 18 lbs. He loves to be outside, but always comes in at night. I hug him all the time even though he isn't the hugging kind.
