  As you may know, Oakland is spending a lot of money beautifying Lake Merritt with new projects. For now, I think it's a waste of money until the City has a policy not to allow encampments into our Parks. There's no sense of spending money when our Parks are over run by illegal encampments thereby deemed unsafe for children to play in. Sanitation, filth, and needles are always a problem associated with illegal encampments.

  These tents must have paid "big bucks" for this water front encampments. I could have never the property tax on a beach front real estate with such a view on Lake Merritt.

  Agreed with the comments about how this has escalated. I just ran by yesterday and it is huge. I also reported this encampment via phone at least a month ago. PLEASE take care of this and keep Lake Merritt enjoyable and safe for all!!
