Description

City removing signs, violating right of political expression.

New Haven Public Works truck pulls up to our house. Removes lawn sign in support of immigrant rights, puts it in the back of his truck. Drives off.

You can only have signs on your lawn, not on the tree belt. Are you the on with all of those crazy signs screaming "Enough with the emails?" One lawn in Westville is WACKO.

Sorry this happened. Covering this category since a retirement. As noted by another user, anything within the tree belt would not be permitted under the City's ordinances and would be collected by staff. Note - we recognize on election day we do not enforce, but do leading up to and after election day.
If the sign was on your lawn and removed by staff it would be something we would investigate and remediate with staff, unfortunately due to the age it would be difficult to address at this time.
Again - sorry this got stuck in acknowledged, working to improve this category while we work to fill our vacancy.
