Trash was not picked up for a week because of snow. The city should allow temporary use of blue bins for trash that accumulated during snow emergency. I cannot fit accumulated trash in the smaller bins. In fact, I can't even move my trash can to curb because it is stuck in ice. I tried putting some bags out last week but they weren't picked up because not in proper receptacle.

I'm with "me." If you are recycling everything that the DPW accepts, you should have a smaller amount of garbage, which means the brown toters would be big enough for your output. It's that simple. I also suggest that the city start monitoring which residents/homes put out recycling and which do not, and those who do not recycle should be fined.

I don't want beat a dead horse but ..... I have gone 3 -4 weeks without filling my trash toter. And I am not a below average consumer. What I am is an above average recycler. If you are recycling thoroughly there is not a lot of trash left.

I don't want to beat a dead horse either, (who am I kidding, I beat dead horses all the time) but...around my house I am known as The Recycling Nazi. Oh wait, that was one-upping, not beating a dead horse. ;)

As everyone has noted, the blue toters are for recyclable items only and if any trash is placed in them, our Refuse Collectors can not empty them. I am a true advocate of recycling, but unfortunately the city has only provided One Blue toter to tax paying residents in my part of town. I was told years ago the trash toter was coming and still nobody around me has one. The garbage is not collected for weeks at a time and between other people throwing garbage in the bin and animal's the bins overflow and end up in the street. It's extremely aggravating to not have garbage collected for weeks. I'm disappointed to see its not picked up in other areas of town too.
