As a pedestrian, I frequently have that issue at this intersection, even though I make a point to wait for the walk signal before crossing (ESPECIALLY with my children). But the drivers ignore that as well, and I'll be left standing or have to jump back to avoid turning drivers ...

As a driver, I'm going to have to disagree. I'm a careful driver though, one who doesn't ignore pedestrians and ignore traffic. If I had to sit at that light and wait for it to turn green just to make a right turn so I can go about my day, I would be pretty angry. During peak hours, that light takes dreadfully long. That being said, I usually go down Ingalls or Middleburgh to get onto Route 7 or downtown Troy. The problem isn't the fact that we're allowed to go right on red, the problem is the inconsiderate and incompetent drivers who think its cool to just put the nose of their car out in traffic.

I agree with nathan, no right on red here would cause traffic to back up and cause so many problems.
