east haven at stanton rd overgrowth prevents beach access for many residents around here.supposed to be 10 feet wide but has become overgrown and encroached upon.also illegal fence on beach just erected by homeowner.zoning and mayor please help!
also how is this road private and we cant park down there but it is plowed by the town of east haven and even has manhole covers saying "east haven". who is paving for their road maintenence? the taxpayers?
i have beach rights and was at this beach yesterday and saw the illegal and dangerous rope and wooden post homemade "fence". The fence was NOT up last week...don't you need a permit to build a structure? Also, it ends below the high tide line...anyone can use any beach as long as you are below the tide line, beach rights or not. At high tide, it's like walking to your death!
now there is a second fence up, one on either side of the "path" - which is really the beach . They are both wood pole & rope fences and only go up when the summer residents come back. These are dangerous when the tide is high, as the water comes all the way up to the "fences" which go below the high tide line. not to mention ugly. what are they denoting? why are they here? is there a permit required for building structures on the beach? are we not supposed to use the area on either side if you have beach rights? mayor of east haven, april capone, please check on this!!! 4th of july fireworks are approaching and last year, it was dangerous walking up to the tide line (it was high tide) in the dark, with rope fences on either side.
the mayor is too busy trying to destroy our police dept. to care about full- time town residents.we make this town great, not her! and our zoning dept is one of the biggest jokes around as you can see by this complete lack of action.
many on stanton rd and south end rd are full time, and i visit my mother on occasion on south end rd and love walking down to the beach. the people who live there only in summer erect the fence, keeping many year round residents from enjoying the beach. also, the road has become a dump, so instead of wasting time building fences, clean up the garbage! if i had a truck, i would do it, even though someone else did it. thanks for telling me all people can go to the beach, regardless of high tide line. if you thought the fence was ridiculous before, you should see it now, and the tide line sometimes is much closer to the person's house than usual, and also as low as the fence that he erected. a high tide knocked one of them down. most people have common sense and don't put chairs down right in someone's face. but i think people used to enjoy it more. used to be a really friendly walk to the beach and i never felt uncomfortable. i also used to spend much time picking up the trash there. people who have houses there should be grateful they get to be next to the water 24/7 and like the fact that other people enjoy it. it is still usually quiet. my mother has beach rights, don't know what makes it different from anyone else.
