This east to west turnaround is dangerous ... traffic on 16 mile west is heavy, as people are exiting the hotel across the street. If you want to get over to the library entrance road, it often takes forever.

Big Beaver is the second busiest county Road in Oakland County. That's not going to change, and the hotel is not going to go away. The simplest solution for you may be to proceed to the next further east turnaround and use that instead. That would give you more room to gradually move over to the northernmost lane to make the turn into the civic center.

PS. If your car is too slow to accelerate across the lanes we suggest buying a new car and getting rid of that old junker.

Nice professionalism there. This intersection was reworked a few years back with all the intelligence of a junior high school civil engineer. Watch it during traffic, as it backs up. Watch people try to get across the exit from northbound 75 to get across 3 lanes to a turnaround without a light. Watch people exit Civic Center drive (after waiting for endless traffic which you can barely see cresting a hill) and have to drive a few miles west down Big Beaver just to TURN AROUND and head back east. Watch the people turning from east to west-bound Big Beaver struggle to go across in tiny windows of opportunity (no matter which turnaround, as you suggested), while guessing (at the one closest to 75) what the hotel people are doing (which is not paying any attention whatsoever as they tire of waiting -- you never know when they'll turn or if they will), as they have no light. I had a semi pull next to me in the turnaround and not make it, have to back up and turn again, almost cream my 2010 Lacrosse, far from a clunker, though I'm sure I could afford better on an appointed road commissioner salary. I thought I would point out a potential death trap in the interest of safety.

Note: The comment about the car WAS NOT made by the Road Commission (that's one of the problems with this Web site).
We agree traffic is heavy on this section of Big Beaver. Unfortunately, that is not likely to change.
We closely monitor crash statistics, and attempt to resolve problems where they exist and where funding is available.
Road Commissioners earn $10,000 per year.
