The St. Petersburg Free Clinic regularly leaves their dumpster unlocked. This attracts dumpster divers and the homeless who spread the trash around and hang out causing a public nuisance, litter and discard, soiled clothing. This consistently undermines the appearance of our neighborhood and all improvements we try to make. Many requests have been made to the Clinic in the past to lock their dumpster with no success. Please assist.

We have forwarded your report to our Office of Veteran, Social & Homeless Services--information may be found on this page of the StPete.org website:
http://www.stpete.org/community/homelessness/
We work closely with various City departments and local social service providers to address issues faced by our homeless population, and we also work with neighborhood associations to address the concerns they have, as well. Our Police Department has a Street Outreach Team that actively canvasses areas where the activities of the homeless are noticed, and they will continue doing so to ensure the safety of all citizens. Please immediately report any criminal activity or safety concerns to the SPPD directly by calling 727-893-7780 if not an emergency, or 911 if an emergency. Thank you.

Thank you for reporting this issue. We contacted the St. Petersburg Free Clinic to advise them of your concerns. They told us they are aware of this problem and have been sending a staff member/volunteer out every morning to clean-up the area. They also told us they have had locks on the dumpster in the past, but the locks keep getting cut-off (not sure who is doing this). In the interest of being a good neighbor, they agreed to have another lock put on the dumpster. I made arrangements with our Sanitation Department to have a lock installed. Thank you again for reporting this issue.

To Mr. Cliff Smith or appropriate contact of Office of Veterans, Social and Homeless Service:
Has the City of Saint Petersburg adopted or implemented any of the action plan recommendations outlined in the “Follow-up Review of Homelessness in the City of St. Petersburg”, written June 8, 2014?
Our Downtown community of Lang Court North has an issue of homeless loitering and littering we would like to address.
Thank you

The City of St Petersburg periodically reviews past reports that are made from citizens within our city limits, and in an effort to clean-up old issues that were resolved some time ago, we are marking as 'closed' those issues that were submitted in the past for which the work has been completed or the issue has otherwise been resolved.
If you think for any reason that the issue you submitted in the past might still be unresolved, please feel free to submit a new report with the SeeClickFix St. Pete website and we will make sure the issue is directed to the appropriate City department to be addressed as soon as possible.
Thank you - MAC
