Description
During rush hour times, traffic backs up the exit ramp all the way up to 400 traffic. Most cars are turning right onto Mansell Rd, and the line is sometimes 40 cars or more. Many cars travel down to the intersection in the middle lane, then make an illegal right turn onto Mansell, just to avoid the long line. The timing of the light does not allow traffic to move quick on that exit. Traffic lights may need to be adjusted to allow cars turning right a little extra time. Police presence will help at that intersection so cars are not making illegal turns. Future improvements are need at intersection.

The access ramps to and from Georgia 400 are controlled, designed, and maintained by the Georgia Department of Transportation (GDOT). While the City requested improvements at the location that would accomodate an additional dedicated right turn lane, GDOT rejected the request. The City does continue, however, to promote the concept as a viable solution and will continue to pursue the issue with GDOT.
Without changes to the interchange configuration, little can be accomplished through modification of signal timing.
