Description
Rt 146 from Branford to Guildford is a very popular cycling route that the State of CT promotes as cycling friendly althought the roads from Pine Orchard CC onto Totoket Road and onto RT146 have so many potholes that cyclists have to constantly dodge the potholes and crevasses which pushes us into the road with car traffic. Part of 146 was paved last year, but not nearly enough.

I almost took a serious fall last week on this road as the pavement is in horrible shape. This road needs immediate patching... I haven't seen any improvement since my initial request. Totoket Road is a nightmare as is many parts of route 146. Are we going to wait for someone to fall into traffic before we fix this area? For those of you who are sitting in your goverment offices, take a ride along this route on a nice Saturday morning and note all of the the families that are riding this rode with their kids..
Also, there is a ton of sand on 146 (Limewood Ave)
This route is an official State Bike Route...

Which is more dangerous; a) a small dent in the surface of the Earth or b) being hit by a car that you darted out in front of (people have been killed on this road).
If I thought something was not safe, I would not make it a family activity.

I agree that there are cyclists who don't always follow the best rules of the road and put themselves and others in jeopardy, but the same could be said about automobile drivers, and more so!!!!
We need to share the road. At the end of the day, you've got to ask yourself what is wrong with me if I can't wait a few extra seconds so that a cyclists could safely get back to the side of the road and most importantly, back to their kids and family. Imagine if your kid or spouse or loved one was out on the rode and veered off course by accident and someone like you were right behind them??
