Original drain design is inefficient and during rain events will not discharge at a rate equal to or greater than storm runoff. A reconstruction of this intersection is needed to correct the problem.

I'm sure there are many instances of system and street failures in Stoneham due to poor design or the ravages of time. Your answer doesn't share the status for fixing this intersection basically leaving us with "Gee, it needs to be replaced". I don't believe it is unreasonable that we taxpayers be given some details whether they be "not a priority" or "it's scheduled to be fixed" or "no money" or "no time" or whatever the truth may be.

The drain is cleaned prior to storm events so it can run as efficient as possible. Washington Street was repaved and at this time it would not be cost effective nor have any funds been earmarked for drainage construction since the MacArthur Road project a few years ago.

I have a clear view of that intersection and have yet to ever see it "being cleaned prior to storm events", or any other times for that matter. If I missed it, then save your limited resources because they aren't working as it floods regularly. Sounds like very short sighted on the part of the DPW not to be able to maintain/repair existing systems. And how are neighborhoods prioritized? MacArthur looks great while the older Farm Hill section of Stoneham has clogged drains and crumbling or missing sidewalks. Wouldn't be so upset if I felt there was a real process for addressing DPW related requests...both short and long term. Instead of living in Stoneham it feels more like Stonewalling.
