The nice new pavement was put down and temp lanes painted in along Chamblee Dunwoody in the village, Later, the paint crew came in to put in permanent lanes. In the process of taking up the temporary paint , they removed the finish of the road. There are several lines of this damaged finish along Ch-D -- can the finish be repaired sometime? Many of us who drive there end up driving in the bike lane just to avoid the areas that aren't smooth.

Except for getting the water line repairs made before the repaving, unfortunately, this entire project has reflected poorly on the city management responsible for its implementation. The road is not well-paved; it's bumpy. The striping has taken months and has been poorly done. And it's not finished. Manhole covers are not flush with the road. People are making a SB right turn lane into Publix using the bike lane; the City should have put the RT lane in. I'm a biker--we need more car lanes than bike lanes. And damaging the freshly-laid pavement to remove the bad striping reduces the life of the pavement--and increases cost to taxpayers.
I really hope the City has not paid the contract price. This has been a small-scale circus.

What's interesting is that I have seen some trucks out there in the middle lane several times and thought they might be there to fix this, but when I drove by later nothing was done...

Yes -- I've been wanting to enter something about that part of Ch-D south of Mt Vernon also but need a photo. That will be in a new entry.
I drove on Ch-D and Mt Vernon today and was reminded again that the Dun. Village Parkway and Mt Vernon roads also had early paint marks to show the lanes that was later erased and moved to the lanes that show now, but they don't have the problem of scrape marks in the surface where the old paint was remove. Only Ch-Dunwoody has that problem. Obviously done by a different contractor; now we need that contractor to fix it!

Update on the various issues reported here:
The smoothness of the roadway was checked for compliance with the specifications and all but one segment in one direction was found to be within tolerance. For the segment that was not in tolerance a financial penalty was assessed against the contractor.
Manholes and valve covers that the city is able to adjust have been adjusted. The ones remaining belong to AT&T and the city has been in contact with them to make adjustments. The inlet grates between Mount Vernon and Womack have also been adjusted and final pavement marking has been completed
The temporary striping was removed by hydroblasting. While it does discolor the surface it does not affect the strutural integrity of the pavement. As the pavement fades over the next 12 to 18 months the discoloration will be much less noticeable.
We will leave this issue open until AT&T adjusts the manholes.
