The public boulevard-like lights in front of the Synovus Bank have been installed for what, a year? Longer maybe? Doesn't matter; they have never--never--been illuminated. They do not match the Hickory House Bank's lights, either. Even though we supposedly have a standard.

Which is whatever the City staff approves, including Buford Highway LEDs.

    I've about given up.

Motorists exiting I-285 WB and merging on ADR NB are running the red light with increasing frequency. And impunity. And at high speed. For cars headed NB on ADR and changing lanes toward the right, there are frequent near misses. We need some enforcement.

The old Chevron station looks like he**.

There was a time when property owners took pride in having Dunwoody look nice. It is shameful that we will have a Fourth of July Parade and this dump will be part of our face to the community. Does the City have no standards to enforce? There's litter, unmowed grass, building parts. It's embarrassing.

This light is now consistently red to traffic on ADR, even when there are no vehicles wanting to exit the side street. This has been the situation now for a couple of months. Please repair. Thank you.

I'm deeply disappointed in City leadership and management.

Today I noticed that the Hickory House Bank installed modern LED lighting at the sidewalks on CDR. Yet the Bank of N Georgia has faux gas/boulevard lights, as does Dunwoody Village Pkwy. As does every photo in the "Future Character" section of the Dunwoody Village Master Plan (2011). Yet Division 3 of the Dunwoody Overlay is silent on lamp style. What, exactly, is going on? Are we really going to have a mish-mash of modern and Victorian and boulevard lighting? Has anyone who works for the City been to Sandy Springs lately?

I'm sick of the DHA claiming to represent homeowners. I'm sick of the City saying it's going to "up" the Dunwoody game. Burger King: vacant. Texaco lot: vacant. Hickory House: gone. Black Walnut restaurant: refused a variance/SLUP. It's bush league. Words. No action. This is Exhibit A.

    Who approved the plans?

I do not wish to appear ungrateful for the repaving projects in Redfield Subdivision. Several streets were in sore need of repair, and they are better. However, the paving project was substandard. Asphalt was applied atop the gutters, effectively reducing the curb height for both drainage and intersecting driveways.

In an apparent effort to remedy this error, the contractors came through a week or 10 days ago with grinders. These large trucks ground off the new asphalt at the curbs. They have torn up the new pavement, busted curbs, scored concrete driveways, and left asphalt debris everywhere. It's more substandard work.

It's nice to have local government. It would be nicer still if local government could capably perform its public works projects. In this case, they did not.

Since repaving is not really an option, can we get someone to come through to re-tar (and thus seal) the pavement that was ruined by the grinding, and get the contractor back to get the cinders cleaned up? This is a mess.

Are merchants allowed to leave "temporary" signs up forever? The Chevron station has had an emission testing sign and several others just stuck in their lawn for a long time. If they are in violation, can we get them removed? Same with a Coldwell Banker "For Lease" sign that is mounted on 4x4 posts across from Novo.

At the Dunkin Donuts, some security lights have recently been added on the property--not by the City. Presumably by the owners.

While we can be grateful for their interest in security, they are an eyesore and they are near blindingly bright.

Do they conform to the city's lighting rules about output (candlefeet), spread, etc? The same with the Burger King, whose lights may be older but I've just noticed them.

In my experience, cities and overlay plans often have illumination standards. If they have them for these parcels, I'd be surprised if these additions conform.

It is deeply disappointing to (again) see the City remove misplaced lane stripes by grinding them out and damaging the fresh pavement that was just applied. We saw this on the CDR repaving fiasco, and now we see it on ADR. The temporary lane stripes are being removed by grinding them out.

We really need different leadership in the roads department. Between Tilly Mill, CDR, ADR, "road diets" (to constrict traffic), "traffic calming" on major roads (and all the other faddish ideas), we do not have leaders in step with the complex traffic problems of an urban community where both the density and through-traffic are increasing. They gotta go, Mr Mayor.

I am very concerned about the road repaving project in Redfield Subdivision, just started this past week. The road is very badly cracked and pitted. In places, the pavement is little more than 6" squares. It is routinely traveled by: construction trucks; County garbage trucks; Dumpster trucks; school buses; large SUVs. All are very heavy. I doubt if the original roadway specifications contemplated vehicle weights of such frequency. In any case, the underlying road is a wreck.

When last repaved (maybe 25 years ago for our section) the road was removed to the dirt. It appears that this project is a superficial grinding to be followed by a layer of asphalt.

It will fail. And it will fail promptly, b/c the surface to which the new pavement is being applied is itself utterly unfit.

My concerns are twofold. First, it isn't going to work. Second, I'm a taxpayer and this is a waste of money.

Frankly, if this is all we're going to do, stop the grinding, slap some asphalt on what's done and walk away before wasting more effort.

I previously reported that a sign prohibiting trucks > 6 wheels was not visible to traffic NB on CDR between Roberts and Spalding. The City correctly replied that the sign was actually on CDR at Roberts. It's not readily visible.

Yesterday, while driving NB on CDR n of Roberts, I observed a US Postal Service tractor trailer (way more than six wheels) driving SB. There are no signs that announce the prohibition to SB drivers on this section of road.

Can we clear this up, please? If 6+ wheel trucks are not allowed on this section of CDR, can we please get signs--visible signs--on the feeder streets and some enforcement?

    Thank you!

The timing of lights on ADR is a mess. Again. Or still. Now I get stopped at the PNC Building, Valley View, and da## near every other light on the road.

We were promised this would be fixed this summer. The issue was closed. It's a mess. The light timing is TERRIBLE.

There are few cars out at this hour. Why can't we have flashing yellow on ADR and flashing red on the feeders until 6 am?

This is ridiculous. It takes almost 8 minutes to go from MVH to 285. It's nuts.

There used to be a sign on NB Chamblee Dunwoody Rd just as one turned onto it from Roberts which read "No Trucks Over 6 Wheels Permitted" (or Trucks Over 6 Wheels Prohibited). That sign has been replaced by a 35 MPH speed limit sign.

We just don't need through-driving tractor trailers and large trucks on this section CDR.

    What's up? Why the change?

I see that ADR repaving begins 7/11.

    Two statements.

    1. Why? We have Dunwoody roads in MUCH worse condition. What happened to "worst first"?
    2. It is disappointing to see the City repaving two major, parallel arterials (CDR and ADR) at the same time. We all know that the CDR job is an unforeseen do-over, but this is just not terrific planning.

  • Redfield Ridge At Redfield Road Dunwoody, Georgia - Dunwoody

Redfield residents look forward to the scheduled street repavings. They are necessary. Thanks.

Redfield Road at Redfield Ridge has long had a drainage problem, but the problem worsened last year after a water main beneath the intersection failed. The pavement was broken by the leaking water, and the post-repair paving was shoddy.

Water--and when it rains, A LOT of water--travels all the way down CDR from above Harris Circle, diverts left (west) into Redfield, and drains into a storm sewer that is west of this intersection. That bad design probably can't be corrected, however, the water now pools badly in this area. The photo shows this pooling just from lawn irrigation overspray. The storm water pooling leaves mud and silt behind.

Before--or while--we go to the expense of repaving, can we PLEASE properly regrade the road so that water runoff makes it to the storm sewers? Not doing so will shorten the lifespan of the repairs, and it makes a mess.

    Thank you.

On the SB side of CDR between Harris Circle and CDR@Roberts Rd, there are two signs that announce "Road work Ahead" (1000 and 500 feet). They are left over from the paving projects and have been there for months. They are wrong and an eyesore; could we please have them removed? Thank you.

The timing of the lights headed SB on ADY in the early morning is maddening. Starting at Perimeter Center N (heading South) it is IMPOSSIBLE to continuously travel through ANY two consecutive intersections with a green light. Why? It takes me 4-5 minutes just to get past the mall. It's nuts. About 4-6 weeks ago, it got much worse.

Generally, the same is true coming North. From Hammond until PCN, you can't make any two lights. Is this the revenge of the Traffic Calmers in Streets and Maintenance? Please fix it.

BTW, there are many lights in Dunwoody that could be converted to flashing during the overnight hours. Those of us who work other-than-daytime hours really don't need to sit for these signals.

    Thank you.
