These signs are a menace to drivers. With cars parked on both sides of the road and sometimes bycyclists riding their lanes there's very little room for 2 vehicles traveling in opposite directions to pass each other. Hence the flattened sign.
But drivers who don't yield at this crosswalk are a menace to pedestrians. I cross here every day and only about 1 out of 5 cars will stop. Perhaps a more permanent sign on the side of the street would be better here!
Drivers won't stop for pedestrians unless there are consequences for not stopping. Other larger cities have solved this problem by making pedestrian crosswalks part of the driving culture.
Maybe add a sign reminding pedestrians to put down their phones and not step right out in front of cars.
I think these signs encourage dangerous behaviour on the part of pedestrians. These people seem oblivious to their personal responsibility to their own safety.

We are trying to delineate issues that are current and need the city's attention to resolve, and as a result a number of historical issues are being closed. If your issue persists and needs to be addressed by the city please open as a new See Click Fix issue. Thank you.
