Description

I live near the Transfer Station and this pile of recycling and trash is unsightly and growing. Can it be cleaned up before snowfall?

On 11/1/15, residents were allowed to drop off no-longer-needed barrels to the Transfer Station (and other locations) as we switched to the new toters. It was my understanding these would be recycled as "bulky rigid plastics." It is almost 11/1/16 and the pile is still there and growing. In addition to old barrels, there are now other plastics such as lawn chairs. There is also a computer monitor, and at least two bags of smelly, ripped open household trash - an invitation for rats. When I took this photo, a worker told me that Waste Mgmt. had already been by once to collect some of the plastics for recycling. Can we please get this cleaned up before winter and stop the dumping of material here - especially when Caraustar (N.S. Recycled Fibers) exists on Jefferson Ave. for this purpose. Thank you.
