At the current time there are no sidewalks to the west of Slaughter road that would facilitate pedestrian movement across the street. We will determine the feasibility of such infrastructure at which point we would be able to add push buttons and signage to the north end of the intersection. There's 2+ miles of continuous sidewalk to the west of Slaughter Road and 2+ miles to the east. The section you speak of is missing 250 feet of sidewalk. Can these two segments be connected? Huntsville is disconnected to Madison because of this missing link.

While any infrastructure improvements would need long term planning, the TE Department will go ahead and provide pedestrian signals to enable crossing slaughter road ( North side).
