The abandoned property behind 2862 Semmes St. Doorway was previously boarded up, but vagrant has removed board to gain unlawful access to property.

Door has signage stating the property is condemned and should not be occupied, yet people go in and out of property daily

Discarded liquor bottles that are present within the alley way and around the neighborhood in general

Request for access maintenance was made and certified letter was mailed to owner of the property on Dorsey.

Has any progress been made on this issue? It has been over 2 months and the homeless are still coming and going from these properties. The buildings have not been secured, there are no new signs posted marking the buildings as condemned, and teenagers have been using the alley to smoke and sell weed. I would call East Point Police, but the last time they came out, the officers seemed less than willing to help with anything regarding these vagrants.

013117- Re-inspections were made at the following: 1783 Short Ave, 2862 Semmes St, and 1774 Dorsey Ave, Certified Letters were sent to last known Owner of Record. 2862 Semmes St has been re-posted with "Condemned Notice".
Public Works has a Work Order to clean the alleyway and this will occur within the next 30 days.
This is an Open Investigation, and we monitor the property.

Why is this taking so long? This is ridiculous. The city's lack of progress is unbelievable. Smh.

The city has cleaned this alley of trash and debris

I opened a new case for the alley and the need for the trash and debris to be cleared. The primary focus of this issue was because of the homeless people occupying the house at 2862 Semmes St as well as the outbuilding behind the property. I'm tired of my property smelling like human feces and body odor. The police won't do anything about it, the code enforcement officers will not return my calls. The house needs to be properly secured and those living in it need to be removed as well as the outbuilding.

Discovered today - Human feces and feces covered panties in the alleyway connecting Cheney and Semmes street.

This is human feces - the SECOND time this has happened.

These are the panties one of the homeless women who "reside" at that property used to clean herself with. This is right behind my house, in the alleyway I've also complained about. When is some serious action going to be taken? This is ridiculous.

Another month gone by and no one has done a thing about this. They were so brazen as to be sitting on the front porch yesterday. I drove back around to snap this picture of the front door still open (as I'm sure it's pushing 100 degrees inside with no AC, power, or running water).

They are literally back there right now. I went outside to water my garden and could hear them talking and moving stuff around in the building. Should I call 911?

So there was supposed to be a court date on 7-5-17 that was to resolve all this.

Rob reports the folks were back on 7-12-17.

On 7-16-17, the COEP fire department and an ambulance came to pick up Mr. Douglas from the house, and took him away on a stretcher. Not sure who watched the dog while he was gone.

Yesterday he was back.

Officer DeBerry recommends calling 911 when the vagrants are in the house, but heck, the vagrants call 911 themselves and use city services, and no one does a thing about it.

So here is something I recently realized... Have the taxes been paid by anyone for this property? If you're looking for the owner to notify them, then wouldn't there be a record of that? And if the property taxes have not been paid, can't the city or county reclaim the property and demolish the building or resale it to an interested party?

The vagrants living inside have removed the red door tag and we haven't heard any updates since the court date from July 5th.

Update on this? Someone was burning something again a few nights ago and the EPFD came out asking the neighbors on our block if we knew where the source was and everyone pointed to this property. There has been silence since the announcement of a court date back in July.

What will it take to get these things resolved? Any connection to the cars being ransacked in the neighborhood?

Any follow up on this? This has been open for 15 months now, and there has been ZERO progress. The old man that "owns" the house sits on the front porch and in his car and they even put up Christmas Decorations because they know they will not be removed from this property. This mess is attracting drug addicts and unwanted individuals into our neighborhoods, causing automobile break-ins and trespassing on property. Please, someone, do something about this.
