The sidewalk behind the parking lot of the purple fish fry restaurant is covered in who knows how many years of trash and it has been overgrown by weeds and shrubs. The sidewalk is impassable and has a permanent stench.

  • Cheney Street Atlanta, Georgia - East Point
There are several street lights either burned out or burning out on Cheney Street beginning at Washington Avenue. It also appears that there may be a street light missing from the pole at approximately 2885 Cheney Street, just south of the Dorsey Avenue/Cheney Street intersection.
  • 2862 Semmes St East Point, Georgia - East Point
The property at 2862 Semmes St (alternatively 2860 Stanton St) is condemned, however there are persons STILL occupying the residence, including dogs, despite having first reported this issue in October of 2016. There have also been vagrants living in the abandoned and dilapidated outbuilding behind the property as well, and as the temperatures rise, the smell of feces hangs in the air and the unlivable conditions attract mosquitoes. The alley and these abandoned/condemned properties are dangerous, attract the homeless and drug dealers, and make the neighborhood appear and feel less than safe. The last time this issue was reported on was in February, stating that the defendant had missed his court appearance and now had a warrant out. Well, he's sitting on the front porch if no one can seem to find him.

One of the residents of the duplex at 2874 Cheney St has a dog behind their apartment in the fenced in area by their air conditioner. The owners will occasionally come outside to look at the dog with their children and then go back inside (or stand in their yard and blast Mexican music from their SUV with the bass turned all the way up, vibrating every house on the block...). The dog bays constantly throughout the day because it gets zero attention from the owners and is an annoyance to the neighborhood. This has been an ongoing issue for months.

  • 2874 Semmes Street East Point, Georgia - East Point
The house on the corner of Semmes and Short has once again been broken into. The last time this happened, someone claiming to be a realtor commented saying construction was about to be finished and someone was buying the property, but neither of these things happened. This house is still vacant and construction was never finished.
  • Cheney St And Dorsey Ave East Point, Georgia - East Point
The street light on the corner of Cheney and Dorsey has been burned out for so long, I didn't even realize there was street light on this corner.
  • 2874 Short Avenue East Point, Georgia - East Point
Truck has been sitting in front of abandoned property for weeks. It obstructs the view of oncoming traffic. It narrows the road as well, forcing motorists to stop to allow other vehicles to pass.
  • Short Ave East Point, Georgia - East Point
Abandoned Chevy Impala in front of abandoned property. Has been sitting here for weeks, collecting dust.

Power is out. Again. Approximately 6:45pm. I really hope East Point Power didn't go home at 5 o'clock like normal and are working in round the clock shifts to get their PAYING customers power again being that the county is currently under a State of Emergency.
  • 2870 Cheney St East Point, Georgia - East Point
The owner of this property feeds a large number of cats that roam the neighborhood, attracting more unwanted cats. They breed under porches and use the neighboring flower beds and gardens as their personal litter boxes. Fine the owner or send Animal Control to remove the cats.
  • Church St & West Cleveland Ave East Point, Georgia - East Point
The trees at Victory Park need to be trimmed back and the flag needs to be replaced. Is there a planning committee for this park? The flag pole should be moved to the center of the park so everyone can see it.

The 2 story home on Short Ave looks as if someone has removed the screen and opened the window to gain access to the property. Probably more homeless moving into the neighborhood.
  • Power Outage Archived
Cheney St East Point, Georgia - East Point
The power in East Point is out. East Point Power closes at 5:00PM (and are closed on Saturday and Sunday), but the power tends to only go out after they've closed or over the weekend. When you call to report an outage, it redirects you to East Point 911, who then tell you they will "let East Point Power know." They cannot give you an estimate of how long it will take to fix the problem. This is ridiculous, especially since we aren't allowed the option of using Georgia Power (who are open 24/7 and have a rapid response team), and since it's now summertime and we've been having 90-degree weather. East Point Power should be accountable to its clients around the clock, not from 9 to 5.
  • 2867 Cheney Street East Point, Georgia - East Point
The bulb hasn't blown out yet, but it isn't putting off any light whatsoever. We've also called East Point Power to install another light along the adjacent alley since so many suspicious people frequent it in the middle of the night.
  • 1774 Dorsey Ave East Point, Georgia - East Point
The rear of the property has been allowed to overgrow, this is an issue I've brought up in the past, but the issue was closed. The gate in both the front and back of the property are unsecured, and it looks like there is a window open in the back of the house. This is also a breeding ground for the local feral cats.
  • Public Alley Between Semmes & Cheney St East Point, Georgia - East Point
This "city alley" is constantly neglected by the city of East Point. It's essentially a dirt path that is continually overgrown with weeds and used as a dumping ground for the local homeless. In almost 2 years, the city has only come out once to clean it. It is already overgrown again and filling up with garbage. With the rain we've been having lately, the weeds are growing quickly and the city should come out at least once a month to cut the growth back. Or at least pave the alley.
