The SPPD was called at 0843 Saturday morning and a city official advised the police that they "had a permit". The police called me back and said they would not respond because the city was authorized to make such noise. How about a truthful answer, an apology and an explanation as to why this ever happened. We expect and deserve answers.

This app is a game. If the City (and the mayor) really care about this situation or how this greater sewage water drama is playing out for citizens then there would be a swift response with an explanation and a sincere apology. Still...nothing.

In addition, you are welcome to visit the reported location (the NW plant, not the NE plant as you reported incorrectly), just as you did on Sunday Oct 23rd, as was noted in this memo regarding the equipment that needed to be repaired and was consequently causing a noticeably loud noise for a period of time that day:

"There were quite a few complaints from resident neighbors on Sunday, October 23 as a result of vac truck W402 running in the morning. Apparently this equipment was in disrepair and made a louder than usual noise. It was subsequently taken off the job after the first load of sand was taken from filter #3.

W402 was removed from the job and replaced by another like piece of equipment. There were no further noise complaints that I'm aware. The on call supervisor was notified and came to the plant (after W402). He drove around the neighborhoods of the complainants and did not notice an unacceptable noise level. Dispatch was notified to call the supervisor immediately if they received any other complaints. They did not."

So as you can see, the staff did respond to the complaints in a timely manner, so we appreciate your following-up to receive that information. Our apologies if you were inconvenienced by the incident. Thank you again for using SeeClickFix.

The complaint that references NE was someone else. You closed my complaint and consolidated the responses to this post. I did call the plant, the mayor's office and the cops because of noise I heard at my home which is 2 miles from the plant. This is the first time I have seen anything other than a canned response and still no explanation a to why the NW plant made noise audible FOR MILES for 2-3 hours on both Saturday and Sunday. Also, the excuse that this was equipment replacement is completely different info from filter clean out. This is what NW plant employees (at least 3 that I spoke to). It also differs from what the plant to the cops when they responded to the noise on Saturday. The noise resumed at 0800 on Sunday. No one came to my neighborhood regarding this issue.

Your response is condescending, wrong and further aggrevates the issue. The NW plant approved a very loud filter blow out or "equipment replacement" as you now call it. In doing so they violated the peaceful enjoyment of citizens in the surrounding community as well as the current noise ordinance. Today is the first time a response has been posted acknowledging it, let alone addressing it. This app is the vector the city wants us to use. Post the reason why this noise was necessary at 0800 on two weekend days. Post why that noise was "permitted" and the cops were told to not respond to calls from neighboring citizens. Hopefully, it won't take another 3 weeks. Waiting.

My initial report on this issue is 3018886. I have video and the police call I made from the NW plant was on a recorded line and the noise as well as its source and the excuse given by NW plant employees is all on the recordings. If the water department or the mayor's action center need proof that the noise was heard for miles, that it was a truck cleaning a filter sump and that the city told the police to not respond when noise complaints were called in. All on record. The comments from the mayor's action line state the water department report would be posted here. Still waiting for that report, the apology for your condescending tone and the unnecessary noise you subjected an entire St. Petersburg communty to for two weekend days from 8am on. I followed your rules, filed a complaint and waited weeks. Continuing to play games just makes the mayor's action center appear evasive.

Continued lameness and evasion from the city and the NW water treatment plant. They violated the law, the told the law to stand down when they responded and the city continues to string this issue along, hoping we grow tired of waiting for a viable answer. An answer that they promised to post here. Then, the reopen a closed complaint on this issue to dilute the exposure to the demand that they do what they said they would do. Water Department...Mayor...still waiting for answers.

Another month goes by with no action aside from dodginess. This issue is not going away until the city makes major changes in staff in the water dept.
