说明

The short stretch of Court St. that runs between Olive St and Academy St is arguably the most beautiful street in New Haven. Its densely clustered brownstones, narrow width, abundance of trees and limited street parking have made it a haven for walking residents of all ages. This block-long stretch of Court street ends at the mouth of beautiful and historic Wooster Square.

Seeing that New Haven is in a bit of a cycling renaissance, as marked most recently by the new contra-flow bike lane on High Street, I was taken aback when seeing the "Except for Bikes" sign directly below the Do Not Enter sign of what was once a one way street for bikes.

Connectivity is beginning to grow, and networks are being created.

This narrow street, already pedestrian and bike friendly, would be the perfect new recipient of an "Except for Cyclists" sign below it's twin "Do Not Enter" signs at its gates. The "Do Not Enter" signs are for cars letting them know that its a one way street, however this calm and narrow street is an ideal biking street (narrow, almost no car traffic) coming from Downtown into Wooster Square Park

The signs more than anything signify that bikes belong, and have a place as part of the street network going in to Wooster Square Park.

The Office of Transportation, Traffic and Parking has been making huge strides. With a little luck, these signs can become a reality.
