If a car is illegally parked on Anthony, at the stop sign, at the intersection of Anthony and pope. Then it is impossible to turn left, up pope street, from Anthony. The fire hydrant on pope prevents you from cutting the corner. And It gets especially challenging when cars are parked along the length of pope too.
Ideally, adding a "no parking here to corner" sign and reprinting the yellow curb will deter illegal parking.
Emergency vehicles will be challenged to make the turn when cars are illegally parked too.
Last week a delivery truck was unable to properly navigate this turn because of illegally parked cars, and because legal parked cars still do not allow enough room. As a result, that delivery truck hit and broke the fire hydrant; dislodging it from its mount. (Thank you for replacing it quickly).
Please review this intersection and make it easier to navigate turns for emergency vehicles, delivery trucks and larger automobiles.
As a note: The intersection in question here being discussed by a fire hydrant is at Pope Street & Anthony Street, but the photograph is of the "no parking here to corner" sign located at the intersection of Anthony Street & Bowery Street. They are two different intersections. I know, because I recognize the house behind the sign which was just recently newly installed after street and sidewalk work. Hope this clears up any confusion. By the way, people at the intersection in the photograph have to park their car on the sidewalk to allow room for cars to pass by on Anthony Street, a suggestion for cars on Pope Street, both Streets are narrow.
