I agree with the notion that park spaces are for everyone, and hopefully we can learn to co-exist comfortably. I have walked there, and spoken with fisherpeople, and brought up to them there are concerns about the messes that have been left. The fishing folks I talked to were careful about NOT leaving messes, not using the benches as fishing staging areas, etc. It's unfortunate to think that the enjoyment of one set of people has to be curtailed for the enjoyment of another set of people.

I agree with having a pleasant discussion with the fishing folks when out on your walks, mentioning that unfortunately, SOME people are leaving behind dangerous hooks and smelly fish leavings. And that you'd hate to see -their- fun being cut off because of a few unreasonable people. Hopefully the fishing community can help police their own.

Sorry, there were so many requests on this debate that looks like this one did not get closed out. The no-fishing regulation was temporarily removed from the Pardee Seawall while the Ft. Hale Pier was out of service. Thanks to the Grant Funding championed by Sen. Looney the pier was transferred to the CIty (was state owned) and we have completed phase one improvements with the completion of the pier last year. Phase two is underway with improved lighting, water access, new trash receptacles, a repaved parking lot and pedestrian pathways, improvements are expected to be completed by mid-summer. As access for fishing is restored at Ft. Hale the regulation as been reinstated at the Pardee Seawall .
