Description
Given the high speed of traffic near Forest and Claremont, many (including myself and my family) choose to cross the street by foot at Oak Grove and Forest. This is a natural spot for either a cross-walk or a three-way stop. In general, Forest Street could benefit greatly from additional crosswalks, speed bumps and other traffic calming features given the high volume of pedestrians and bicyclists during all hours of the day.

Yes, a different issue from what you posted so thanks for the encouragement. As to what you posted, not sure another stop sign would work as that would be one every block. Maybe speed humps.

Traffic calming is definitely needed on this part of Forest, both around Oak Grove and Locksley. Even though it’s a bike route, impatient drivers frequently try to pass bicyclists at close distance in both directions, even with oncoming traffic or just to get to a red light a few seconds faster.
Stop signs or speed bumps might be a hard sell to the city and to AC Transit, but I think raised crosswalks/speed tables might work, both at the north side of Forest/Locksley where the existing crosswalk is marked, and on the south side of Forest/Oak Grove. This would require removing some curbside parking spots to accommodate the curb ramp and crosswalk, so neighbors on the block would also have to be consulted, but it’s worth looking into.
