Deskripsyon
There used to be a house in front of this garage. We reported that someone was living in the garage illegally. We were told by a city inspector that no one lived there.
The house burned, the tenants inside the house moved, the city made the slumlord tear down the burned out shell of the shack that was left standing but the residents illegally occupying an illegally converted garage remain. WHY???
The original garage door was blocked in on a weekend. A window air conditioner was put in and later on a metal pipe to release the exhaust from what must be a heating source – all without a permit from the city. This place looks horrible and the slumlord is getting by with it. Why???
Is it not illegal to occupy what was an accessory structure before the house burned? Why wasn’t this dealt with when reported before the house burned? Why can’t this substandard slum mess be inspected and cleared out?
And BTW – it is not grandfathered in and all of this happened under the city’s watch. There is now a shower enclosure on the ground in front of this mess. We assume they are about to install it or perhaps they are replacing one. The grass and weeds are knee deep. It is an embarrassment to the area and we do not understand why nothing is being done!
