Description
Blue truck inoperable parked in the driveway with broken windows and white trash bags taped all over the passenger side windows. An eye sore. The green truck is also inoperable so a third vehicle is being parked in the driveway blocking walkers.

I would like to meet your inspecter and would like to ask the mayer if he is okay with the same vehicle being parked in his neighborhood.
Maybe the city should start caring and change the ordinance to meet at the very minimum, minimum standards. This City deserves to acheive much higher standards than this.
Not satisfied with congratulating me with a negative response.
No visible signs it is not operable???? Really, are you saying that we should operate a car with the winfows smashed with the trash bags taped to the whole passenger side,

The vehicle in question has not moved once in one year, does that qualify it as inoperable, the tires have melded and rotted with the driveway, does that qualify it as junk?
I am also wondering if the honorable mayor would be okay with living next door to such a vehicle?
We the citizens who pay ridiculously high prices for these homes will be sure not to vote for this mayor the second go round. This brings down the value of our home, so I am hoping come time to pay taxes you will say I live in a slum and reduce my taxes.
Thank you.

In the last 7 years, the vehicle has only been driven few months and that’s been over a year ago after the 1st vehicle broke down. Soon after, a 3rd vehicle was purchased and parked blocking the sidewalk. There is only one person living in the house.
I would appreciate the opinion of another inspector who can get out of the car and look at the vehicles. The fact that one of the vehicles is missing two windows that’s been replaced with trash bags makes it “junk.” Add to the fact that it does not run, faded, etc. that makes it inoperable.
FYI, I have contacted the HOA repeatedly but they’re too scared to act. They are getting paid but not responding to any complaints.
Maybe the “City” can suggest the owner can store his junk/inoperable vehicle in his garage so that it will be out of sight, and this will allow more room to park the other two vehicles on his driveway without the side walk.
What happened to “Alabama the Beautiful?” We should all care about every community, park, city, state, etc.
Respectfully,
Katie

I apologize if I sounded harsh, I know the City is dealing with so many issues.
If I may suggest, maybe another inspector can take a look at the vehicles. A drive by is not going to show much of anything. If the inspector will get out of the car and walk around the vehicles or just take a look from the side walk, he will be able to better @#$% the situation.
Since the City decided that the truck is not junk, I would like to know, what is your Definition of "Junk?" Also, without consulting with an attorney, what other options/rights do I have as a home owner?
The owner lives alone, if he insists on keeping an inoperable junk truck, is it possible to suggest to him to push it into his garage so that it will be out of sight? He will then be ablle to park his card on the driveway without blocking the side-walk. Otherwise, why do we have side walks when we cannot use them?
I have reported this to the HOA many times including the fact that his lawn is hardly ever cut, weeds take over the lawn, etc. However, the HOA is too scared to enforce the rules, and continues to respond that half the community are not paying their yearly fees.
Let's keep Alabama "Beautiful," and not allow people to trash out communities, parks, city, etc. Please help....
Respectfully,
Katie
