Update: Now (7/27/16) the sidewalk in front of 447 E. 45th St. is littered with garbage left behind by Sanitation for some reason, one day after most recent garbage collection (Tuesday), Tuesday is our recycling day, so if regular pickup didn't take trash, why didn't recycling take it??? Garbage in the alleyway, although in cans, is still full to the tops. With this heat, the stench is fowl and the sight is nasty! The construction trash has been removed, but can Sanitation or Health Department get the landlord to clean up his property on a regular basis!

Update: 8/19/16 - Currently, alley is still filthy with spilled garbage. I spoke with a Sanitation's Inspector and the Landlord several fines, but I don't know if the Landlord cares because the front and side of 447 E. 45th Street is never completely cleaned. I spoke with some workmen at the building earlier this week, asking them to give the landlord a message to clean up his property, but the workman told me he did not know who the landlord was. He was working for the CITY. Now I don't know what's going on. As previously stated, the condition of the property is still smelly, dirty, unhealthy and unpleasant to live next door to!

The neighbor on the other side of me started a campaign of contacting each tenant in the affected building and speaking to them about their responsibility and concern for keeping their own living space clean. Since then they have made an effort to manage the garbage and move it to the curb on collection days. Things have improved 80%. Owner is still absent and mostly likely financially unable to maintain this propeery. Building
still needs a superintendent to clean sidewalk daily. But the smell and the view are much improved.

A new owner has taken responsibility for the apartment building and the clean up effort is greatly improved. Hopefully it will continue. Thank you for the opportunity ans space to air my problems.
