Last week I reported illegal dumping opposite 116 Springside to the police department and reported that it was the occupants of 116 who dumped across the street. The police came to speak with them and nothing was ever done or cleaned up. You want us to report illegal dumping we see and nothing was done to have the occupants clean up the dumping. It is still there.
As for 146 Springside, nothing was in the empty field when I rode by at 10:00 am but when I returned at 12:00pm there was a large broken work bench dumped in the field.
This is an on going problem. I have reported this issue of dumping in this area more times than I can count. I can almost guarantee you that by the time it is picked up there will be more there. If you continue up Springside towards Commo Ground there are also approximately 8 lawn and leaf bags dumped on the same side as Common Ground just before the entrance.

As far as I am concerned this was never taken care of properly. The only thing that was removed was the piece of broken furniture and the vacuum cleaner whicj was right next to it is still there as is the green tarp which had to be walked b over to get to the broken furniture. There is also a paint can and cooler and other items still there.
This area is notorious for illegal dumping. If you continue farther up the street on the same side, there is an open field where a house was which was used by the head of the parks department before it was torn down. I ride by it yesterday as I was headed towards Common Ground High School. There are two big flat pieces if wood there and just past there a red couch thrown off the road on the embankment to the river.
I am getting frustrated and dusappointed by the cityf response to my See Click Fix Reports.
I also reported an 18 wheeler continuously parked in the parking lot on Valley Street and was told in a response that the truck would be moved and not allowed to park there. Not true as it has been there the last 3 days in a row.
Our streets were cleaned by the street sweepers as posted last week. They were followed by at least one city dump truck. Around that time I had also reported tires and debris on the corner of West Hills Rd and Valley Street. When I passed that area, the dump truck and street sweepers were pulled off the road and parked in the exact spot I reported the tires and debris. My mistake was I figured everything would be removef and put in the dump truck. WRONG AGAIN. It is still there. Whay were the tires and debris not thrown in the back of the dump truck. CAN YOU UNDERSTAND MY FRUSTRATION AND NOW RELUCTANCE TO EVEN CONTINUING TO REPORT THESE ISSUES.
The latest issue is now just before the 500 Blake Street Restaurant property just as you get to the light at Valley and Blake. Just outside of the fence which was repaired within the past few months, SOMEONE HAS DUMPED A FULL/QUEEN SIZE MATTRESS WEDGED BETWEEN THE FENCE AND SMALL TREE
PLEASE HELP US TRY TO KEEP WESTVILLE CLEAN. IF I CONTINUE TO SEE NO RESPONSE TO MY POSTINGS, OR NOT PROPER FOLLOW THRU AS PROMISED (PARKED TRUCK STILL THERE AS US DEBRIS NOT PROPERLY PICKED UP ACROSS FROM 116 SPRINGSIDE AND WEST HILLS ROAD AND VALLEY STREET), I WILL RELUCTANTLY AND SADLY FEEL LIKE OUR PART OF WESTVILLE IS THE FORGOTTEN STEP CHILD.
PLEASE PROVE ME WRONG.
ALSO AS IN ANOTHER REPORT I ASKED THAT THE WOODED AREA ACROSS FROM 90-146 SPRINGSIDE BE CUT BACK, TRIMMED AND CLEANED AS THEN SUPERVISOR SMITH TOLD US IT WOULD BE TAKEN CARE OF ON A REGULAR BASIS. THAT WAS NICE OF HER BUT NO ONE HAS DONE ANYTHING THERE OR EVEN RETURNED THERE IN THE LAST 6-9 MONTHS. ANOTHER EMPTY PROMISE.
A FRUSTRATED RESIDENT
