Unfortunately, the DPS has to wait for the tree truck to take the tree down before finishing the sidewalk repair. Our one and only tree truck died. The City actually purchased a new one which has taken a few weeks. This tree is on the list and the Tree Dept. will be getting to it as soon as possible. Their number is 978-745-0195 if you have further questions. This sidewalk seems to be clearly marked with warning cones. Thank you for your patience.

The Department of Public Services maintains a listing of reported sidewalk defects around the City and prioritizes them based on relative severity and public safety. I was told that the city would be replacing the tree, but that hasn’t happened yet. Also, when it dies happen, do we have any input as to what type of tree goes there?

Thank you for your tree planting request. This location will be considered by Salem's Tree Warden for the Department's next tree installation season. Generally, planting efforts happen in the spring and the fall seasons. Budgetary restrictions or poor locations may inhibit the Department from fulfilling a request.
