Description
A truck is currently parked on the sidewalk at 712 E Whitaker Mill Rd, blocking pedestrian access to the sidewalk completely.
It should be noted that this has become a near daily occurrence on E Whitaker Mill Rd, and in the surrounding neighborhood. Its clear that traffic laws with regards to parking on the sidewalk are not being respected. This is the second report I have filed with See Click Fix about trucks parking on the sidewalk on this very same block.
Frustratingly, an RPD officer drove right by this scene moments before I took these photos, but ignored it. It feels like ensuring pedestrian access to the sidewalk is not a priority for the Raleigh Police.
As we all work together to make Raleigh a healthier city, how can we ensure that pedestrian access is given the same priority as vehicles, without citizens having to report every infraction on this website?
Ensuring that cars aren't parking on the sidewalks is a small step that we can certainly take. How can we work together to make sure the RPD is enforcing the law in these cases?
Thank you for your prompt attention to this matter, and ongoing concern for pedestrian safety in Raleigh.

Thanks for bringing this to our attention. We have forwarded your concerns to RPD. The most efficient way to resolve parking violations is to call RPD's nonemergency number when the violation is in place - 919-831-6311. By the time the issue is routed to RPD through SeeClickFix, the vehicle may have already been moved. We encourage citizens to store that nonemergency number in their mobile phones.
You are welcome to call the RPD North District Commander Tommy Klein at 919-996-1468 to relay your concerns about RPD's enforcement of the issues you have raised.
