The issue you reported to Pinellas County has been resolved by Pinellas County “Doing Things for YOU !” We are “Closing” completed or resolved reports. If it is still unresolved, please reopen this report and we will reinvestigate and take any necessary action. You will be notified of updates!

Pinellas County Communications Department would like to apologize for closing out your reported issue by mistake. Your issue has been reopened. We ensure you that the Public Works Department will still investigate the issue and take any necessary action.

The drainage ditch in question carries storm water from 83rd St N to Cross Bayou. It is on private property owned by Hidden Bayou Townhomes with a public easement. The easement do emergency work such as clearing blockage if 83rd St flooded. The homeowners have the right and responsibility to maintain the ditch within the limits of any permits or agreements. The exception would be mosquitos. That issue will be forwarded to Pinellas County Mosquito Control.

There is a lot of standing water in the ditch. Please have the county spray for mosquitoes.

I entered a service request about the mosquito problem in your area; our technician should be there within one working day depending on their work load. They will inspect the property and surrounding neighborhood to determine the source of the problem and will take the necessary action to correct the problem; whenever possible we try to target Mosquitoes in the aquatic juvenile stage to control them at the source.

If we cannot get into the property due to locked gates then please check for anything that may be holding rainwater as Mosquitoes will breed in them by the hundreds, we’ll be checking the area surrounding the property for anything that may be contributing to the problem and will take the necessary steps to eliminate or treat the source.

If you are at the property when the technician arrives then please take the opportunity to inform them of your concerns. If you are not at the property when they arrive a card will be left providing you with detailed information on our handling of your request and what we will do to monitor the area for any further problems that may develop.
