Descrizione

Pedestrian Safety Issue raised at Yale Health Safety Comittee meeting 5-9-16.

The crosswalk markings at the corner(s) of Winchester, Mansfield and thier respective intersection(s) with Sachem are all gone.

There is a significant amount of pedestrian traffic crossing these streets including students and the majority of Yale Health Staff walking to and from the Prospect Sachem garage.

There is also a lot of car and truck traffic at this intersection. A large majority of the traffic does not stop at the stop signs and they are traveling at high rates of speed.

Who at the City can I contact to discuss this safety issue?

Can we please repaint the crosswalk markings?

Can we put in the new flashing light - crosswalk signals?

It would be nice to have a police presence on a random basis to ensure that cars are stopping for pedestrians in the crosswalk.

It feels very unsafe to cross this block.

Can you please contact me @ 860-301-8987 or dennis.marden@yale.edu to advise as to what action can be taken and when something to improve public safety can be completed.

Thanks,
Dennis Marden
Assistant Building Services Manager, Yale Health
