I understand your grievance but at the same time wonder why you posted this here. This sounds like a major ordinance problem not just a busted sidewalk, trash not picked up, tree blocking sight at corner while I turn left kind of issue.
It also sounds like a 'I have mine, they can't have their's' type of complaint since as I walk the pooch there are houses very close to the sidewalk everywhere. If this is a legitimate complaint, which is starting to not seem like one, I'd go a few notches towards the 'more serious direction' and make a call to the city ordinance department unless you already have and this is your last stab at inevitable failure, just saying.

There is no place to report online a situation like this with the building dept. So, I posted it here. Why should I wait on hold to report it? Sorry that you don't think this is warrented complaint, which is funny cause you first want me to take more immediate action, but all parts of the city are different. Some have houses near the sidewalk and others do not. Where all homes in an area are one way, why should a home be built that differs and changes the character of what is already there?

Here's the thing which I should have brought up before: When a house is about to be built the contractor has to submit the plans to the building inspector. They either approve or they don't. If they don't, amendments are made. Sounds like you have a preference issue which you care about but apparently not enough to start a petition in your neighborhood. It requires door to door, etc., etc... The plans, however, were already posted way before, for the public to see, the first shovel hit sand. I'm sorry you're upset but it may too late.
