Whats with the cheapo white plastic garbage containers? Talk about trashy containers. Why can't the city get the green metal containers?

I agree but these seem like temporary solutions that parks put out that are better than nothing.

I don't think so. The Historic New Haven Green has lots of these white containers as well. If this is the Mayor's idea of a Clean City Initiative, then we're in trouble

We use recycled white plastic containers which we obtain for free. While they are not the best solution they have allowed us to meet the request for "more trash cans" without spending the $875 per metal container. It also allows us to remove them during the winter months when there is less trash accumulated to reduce the number of stops that the trash truck must make allowing collections to be more efficient. We work with local artists and community groups to beautify these barrels and are happy to desplay these artistic ones instead as available.
