Please leave this OPEN. This person DOES understand the purpose of this app and is suggesting that it be EXPANDED to cover more. Oakland should be MORE than this and it can be, if we insist on better.

I drove home from Oakland Airport last night and was passed on the right and left sides up Hegenberger by drag racers. Probably on their way to disrupt the public with donuts somewhere. At night the traffic rules pretty much give way to anarchy - this was around 9:15 pm. Yes this is probably the wrong forum but we don't have enough street patrols to eliminate this bad behavior.

Thank you, Swimmy44! I am continually stunned by the behavior that is "allowed" here in Oakland. I thought that this SeeClickFix app would be awesome -and it is good. But it also just highlights how much it's all about running around "putting out fires." It would be PROACTIVE for the city to set a higher standard for driving expectations, as well as where to put one's trash, where to park your car (hint: NOT on your front yard!), etc. But instead we have to wait for the bad stuff to happen and then we report it... We report all of the graffiti and the dumping and the craziness... Some stuff the city gets on right away while other stuff takes longer (or never). Meanwhile, the problem isn't really getting dealt with in an effective, efficient way. I kind of feel embarrassed for the city of Oakland sometimes. It's like an ineffective parent who keeps threatening time-outs while her unruly children ignore her, running around like crazy people.

This App is mainly for "NON-EMERGENCY " problems. Dangerous/reckless drivers should be considered hazardous, and in these cases,you need to call OPD, (510)777-3211(from your cellphone) or 911 from a landline. ALL calls to the OPD dispatchers have incident numbers assigned/attached to them. Ask for this number before hanging up.

Tom, I totally agree. That's part of the problem. OPD does not consider it an "emergency" and they do not respond. I've been calling and collecting incident numbers for 16+ years here and getting nowhere. It's time to try something different. OR perhaps you have an idea for how to make the system actually work? I'd love to hear it!
