Deskripsyon

This particular spot used to have three dogwood trees and was well maintained. Two of the trees have died and nothing has been replaced. Also, all of West Broad Street above the I-95 overpass have dead or dying trees. A lot of attention has been spent on lower West Broad but upper west broad has been ignored since the early 1960's when flowering cherry trees were planted uniformly on the street. There are a few remainingand they are slowly dying.

so glad that someone has mentioned this! This is one of the gateway streets of stratford. Improving this street can only positively affect not only the neighborhood by the feeling of this important voting district! Too long has it been neglected.

This could be one of the prettiest streets in town. I see they are repairing the sidewalks but replacing trees would do so much more without having to spend too much money.

This is also one of the most historically important streets. It was the original road that linking New Haven Colony (there is an old stone marker in the spot mentioned above that says "15 MI to N.H.".
George Washington traveled this road and stopped at an Inn and dined on fried oysters for the first time. This is also the road used for the first mail route and pony express which is noted in several spot along the road extending to Barnum Ave. Lastly, its been mentioned that Goode Bassett (witch of Stratford) was hung near the spot of Cumberland Farm gas station upwards to Knowlton St.
This road NEEDS beautification with trees, decorative street lamps and sidewalks. ALSO, there are houses that need the attention of the Blight office, Especially the pink house on the corner of West Broad and Winfield Drive.

Still nothing has been done about the street scape. the trees up and down west broad are sparse, and the blight office does nothing real about the single family and multi family homes. SHAMEFUL.
