Kearny DPW has to wakeup and PLOW THE STREETS to protect your residents.

I agree. Im very disappointed of how the town have handle this situation . This town been the worst. My husband and another guy had to shovel half of the street by my house in other to drive up the street. I was also surprise to see that they havent remove any snow from the main street either. All those call not to park on the main street for what? What did they do.? Im thinking they just dont want to spent money. Very disappointed

Are you kidding me with this town... There are people stranded in this lot next to my house(myself included) people(includin my husband) have tried diggin their way to get out but it is impossible to do an wat happens u hear a front loader in front so i look an think o they goin to finally clear the lot so the 10 cars in there can get out but NO all he did was move the snow from the street into the parking lot some more blocking the lot more an now blocking the sidewalk even more please tell me what was the point of this ur job is to clear and make the situation better not worse

Dpw should be embarrassed. Terrible job on a storm that was advertised for a week. Davis ave is s disgrace

agreed...I live on Howell Place and we've only been plowed twice on Saturday morning...absolutely ridiculous. I understand the DPW may be understaffed but maybe call for volunteers, I'm sure there are plenty of people who will be willing to help plow our streets. There is virtually no parking because the mountains of snow are taking up parking spots. The town knew this storm was coming and should have taken precautionary measures such as salting the roads and hiring people. We need to get to work and risk losing our parking spaces. Something needs to be done. We pay too much in taxes for this to be happening.

Newark is doing just that!! asking for help. Any size pick up with a plow that can atleast move snow to help free up parking.

Everyone needs to realize we got hit hard maybe they are understaffed I herd 20 or so men? Not sure what the number is but just think if they are on 2 12hour shifts 10 each as long as no one is away/sick also I see they have old equipment looks like they need some new trucks and loaders to get more work done but then again who will volunteer to help? Because of insurance issues I bet any volunteers couldn't drive trucks or equipment... We can not be mad at the workers I've seen a few of the same guys this past weekend I think of you have CDL you need x amount of hours of "sleep" not sure tho but next time instead of getting mad at them for working bring them out a bottle of water tell them to keep up the good work might make them feel better and be wanting to help more then everyone bashing them..

i dont know what the problem is. Not blaming the workers at all. But something is not right. If theres a house fire , lets say on any of the side streets where i live by the high school, theres ABSOLUTELY NO WAY, a fire truck could get down the street with all the cars parked illegally.... its so bad that a home owner with his own pick up moved the snow himself and it opened up 10 car spots.

When reading through these posts, I don't see "everyone" bashing workers. What I see is frustration, desperation, and aggrevation over concerns with safety, timeliness of emergency response, lack of mobility, work pressures, etc. I also see the fear that comes from uncertainty due to lack of communication. The fear that comes from not knowing how soon before you see light at the end of the tunnel. It's a huge generalization to say that everyone is directly bashing the workers. There are only a few posts throughout this forum that might fall under that category and when they do its a manifestation of all of the real underlying issues that we as residents want addressed and improved. We do not accept excuses. Yes there was a blizzard with 30 inches of snow. We get that. We are not delusional. But we need a better plan. And just like the rest of us may be doing even you are also making a lot of assumptions. The reason why we have to assume certain things is because proactive public announcements have not been made as to what the real setbacks have been. A simple recorded call like the ones we have been getting from the Kearny police emergency management office with some indication of what is going on might have helped alleviate the tensions a bit.

its melted . its a done issue. hopefully ,whatever the issues were will be rectified by the time the next storm comes rolling through.
