Agreed! Strongly! But it's a traffic design issue at base. Pedestrians can and should have a dedicated crossing there (along with a No Turn on Red for northbound traffic), not a crossing that pits them against frustrated drivers who've been backed up on Church/Whitney who are in a hurry to get to the highway on-ramp.

It's also an @#$% issue. I'm sorry that the drivers are in a hurry. But they Have. To. Yield. It's the law. I've almost been hit at this location multiple times. For the drivers it's a question of waiting like 30 seconds for someone to cross the street. For the pedestrians it's a question of life and death. I feel the same way about the people who go down Willow Street at 60 mph. YOU'RE BREAKING THE LAW, JERKS. Not to mention making things very dangerous for cyclists and pedestrians (many of whom are children).
