I agree this looks very bad. It really is NOT a compliment to the neighborhood and the community. I hope that the City of Raleigh did not approve for this graffiti and it will be removed swiftly. The only thing this graffiti will do is encourage others to tag and mark up our neighborhood.

As a resident who lives in Saint Marys, this "art" is embarrassing for our neighborhood. Something like a mural would have been received much better. There is nothing tasteful about this and it presents a bad image of the neighborhood.

Wouldn't this require a permit from Raleigh? I can imagine what the people who ride the train into Raleigh think when it slows down to the station and they see the back of this building, have we left Baltimore yet?

I can't imagine how this was allowed by the City. While this dumpy little strip shop may be appropriate for his kind of graffiti, it doesn't add anything to the neighborhood but a negative connotation. Shame on whomever decided this is hip. It's destructive.

Here's a picture. It's the building with the Pick-Mart and Trophy at 825/827 West Morgan St. There are even paint cans and beer/liquor bottles still out in the parking lot.

This is a valid art project. Sounds like the folks who own/ lease the property approved it. Definitely not gang activity. Not sketchy. Maybe you should engage with the folks who own the property and run the businesses there instead of reopening the same non-issue.

I didn't reopen the issue, I just said it looks sketchy. It does. It certainly brings down the property value of those of us who own homes in the neighborhood. The loiterers loved it, they're out drinking there most evenings and asking people for money.

It seems any mention of anything remotely related to racism or any other possible personal failing, either supporting the complaint or opposing it, gets blocked. Free speech should be freer than this.
