There IS a crosswalk across W.Water St at Union... its not a hashed crosswalk, but I walk across it all the time (when police vehicles aren't parked blocking it....).. is your issue that cars turning into W.Water from Union don't stop for pedestrians? You definitely have the right of way when walking across it, and I find just looking towards Union as I cross is enough to get people to yield. The issue with signage around this area is all the vehicles parked illegally on all sides of the street (Union, W.Water, Meadow) makes it tough for drivers to see.

IN terms of Union. I appreciate the crosswalk across the four lanes of Union at that location as well, but to be honest, drivers have no way of seeing that until they are right on it., and it is difficult for them to see pedestrians waiting to cross because of the cars parked on both sides. I usually choose to cross Union waiting for the walk light at Columbus, or at the underpass with the walk light, it is much safer...

Richard--Thanks for your comments. I agree with you that you do have the right-of-way when you walk in the crosswalk at that intersection. My issue is that it does not match other high volume pedestrian areas in the city that have hashed crosswalk paint and vertical signage. I think both crossings across W. Water and across Union in that area should be highly visible and matching. You are absolutely right about cars parked in areas that are deliberately signed "NO PARKING." That is a whole separate issue that should also be solved.

This is too important to close,, even though no City official has yet responded. I've been almost hit at that intersection a few times. This is the intersection where the Knights of Columbus Museum is? Corner of 1 State St? or where?

This is actually south of the location you are speaking of, on the other side of the Oak Street Connector underpass. The intersection of State & George can be tough to navigate on foot as well.

Then it is pretty consistent that the City planning is neglecting to consider the needs of pedestrians in the downtown area, and this needs to be addressed.

I'll just add my voice to note that this is an important need that has not yet been met (two years later, apparently,)
