This intersection is really hard to navigate: coming down Chapel St you go from two lanes to one lane, with buses merging, cyclists, and folks turning from Church to Chapel. Does it have to be two lanes for that one block?

It would benefit from a redesign. There isn't a bus stop there, and the buses don't need two lanes in the next block, where it might actually be helpful for them to be able to pull to the side.

The lane could be converted into a cool public area/ extension of the sidewalk, or more car parking :(, or planters would be very pretty.
