This issue will not change without either a) serious, thoroughly thought through, and progressive city government intervention; b) some type of anti-litter vigilantism; c) a change in human behavior, i.e., the behavior of the regular crowd of mammals who leave trash all over East Rock as long as they're able to drive up there; d) The Rapture/Second Coming/End of the World/Armageddon. If We the People want our prized park to grow even greater with piles of tiny liquor bottles, fast food trash, spent diapers, beer cans, and all the other refuse that the thoughtless no longer want inside their cars, then there's always e) the Path of Least Resistance: Do Nothing.

It's another playground for the city's entitled and privileged. ( so they feel anyhow)

See the suburban dwelling police,fire dept. ,schools and mostly administration receiving park stickers for free.

Still an issue. Trash on East Rock, in other parks, covering the green when the snow melts, on every street. It appears to people who come here from out of town that our filth is out of control, unstoppable, that the city of New Haven has no remedy for this social evil.

I agree I live on one of the one ways going into east rock and I can stand on my pouch and watch people just throw trash out their windows......who does that? They can not wait till they get home or pull over and use many of the pails the park has to offer...everyday I get home from work I have to pick up someone else trash....and from the ad posted this is not a new thing. But ideas on how to fix it. Well the parks dept is sooooooooooo understaffed that there is NO WAY they can pick up trash along the roadside of all park areas....but what about community service? Our top cop got a report of a kid doing graffiti the ball field when the cops got there it appeared the young man was cleaning the graffiti he had done. We let all these criminals in our city go...basically unpunished for all kinds of crime (because our jails our filed). Why not make them do like they use to.....pick up the trash along the most needed areas. Just a thought.

The Parks Department is trying to better manage SCF issues and are closing old issues. While we know illegal dumping and litter continue to be a concern, these specific issues should have been addressed. Please continue to report new locations with cross streets or paths or other visual cues to help us address more quickly.
