Description
A dresser has been dumped on the park side of the street . . . near the entrance to West Rock Park. Please remove ASAP. This type of dumping leads to more the longer it sits. Increased street litter also increases.

Yes, we understand . . . but the issue was not solved and the dresser was not retrieved . . . and it has been over two weeks. We would have been more than happy to "thank" the department if the issue was solved or responded to in a timely manner. We have lived in the area for over 5 years and your departments time response to similar issues has been about the same. It is very frustrating that it takes multiple phone calls and SeeClickFix requests before an issue is even acknowledged let alone taken care of.
We understand that unfortunately New Haven has an incredibly horrible trash/dumping problem . . . there are many individuals that illegally dump large items as well as clean out their cars on streets regularly. The local residents are ofter out there supporting the Department of Public Works and the Parks Department by cleaning up street and park trash daily so as to send the message to violators that this is not a supported behavior. We need the city to respond to large item dumping as quickly as possible . . . the longer these items remain the more and more trash is dumped and the more and more frustrated we become.
West Rock Park is used by many other towns as there are a ton of little league and high school baseball teams that play on the fields . . . were are so embarrassed when families living outside of New Haven come to our beautiful city to see streets and parks littered with trash. The is not the message New Haven City Residents would like to send to our guests. The corner of Valley and Blake is also a major issue. Valley and Blake are highly travel due to local colleges and universities. Commuters pass by a mound of trash on a regular basis . . . this brings down Westville and the City of New Haven.
Is there a supervisor that regularly visits problematic areas to check on their status? Is there a team that enforces illegal dumping and littering fines?
