Any progress on this?

There are currently five bike racks in Westville Village, aside from those in Edgewood Park and by Mitchell Library. WVRA has requested some additional ones from the City for the area of Blake & Whalley and will work with them to make sure one is right by 910 location; agreed it's a good spot.

We also have an opportunity to locate a bike maintenance station in the Village, like the City has installed at the Parks Office on Edgewood Ave. and at a few other places throughout the City. Any thoughts on a good location for that? We've looked at a few different spots - Mitchell Library being one, the corner of Edgewood Park being another (at West Rock & Whalley) and at the top of the steps or on the sidewalk outside the Park New Haven lot at Blake & Whalley being a third - but would like to hear others' thoughts.

What about adjacent to the driveway from W. Rock into the Edgewood Park tennis and b-ball courts parking lot, Chris? Lots of bike traffic through there. Marc

Somewhere in that vicinity is a good idea, yes, though that's quite fairly close to the one at Edgewood and Yale. What about any places on the west side of the Village?

I'm sorry. I meant the bike maintenance station, for precisely those reasons.

Thanks for the info Chris. I didn't really inspect the entire area, just didn't notice any in the very center where I often see people bike and lock up. If one goes up near 910 or the center, great!

As far as the bike maintenance station, I think it just has to be in an obvious area... probably close to bike racks. Depending how many are lined up at the corner of Edgewood park, that makes sense. The Park New Haven lot also makes sense, but not if there currently aren't any bike racks there (maybe there should be!).

Park New Haven is offering the maintenance station as part of their partnership with us on renovating and improving that lot and we're also working on getting 3-4 bike racks installed over there, as you suggest. The racks would be more visible outside of the parking lot on the sidewalk - most likely on Whalley adjacent to the lot, rather than on Blake, where there is a bus stop - but also closer to traffic. Inside the lot would be more protected, but less visible. Same goes for the maintenance station - pros and cons inside vs. outside the lot. What do you think? Or should all of this just be on the south side of Whalley between Phillip and Blake, adjacent to the stores? Trying to get as much feedback on this as possible.
