The area around this business is residential, I understand the posters frustration. If they are in fact zoned for 11:30, then they need to shut down by then. There is also a noise ordinance that starts at 10am. Giving them a break isn't the responsibility or the residents. Being a good neighbor and obeying the law however, IS the responsibility of Roosevelts.

A bit of context from a long-time resident of Bradley Street. The closing time is part of the zoning variance granted to the property. It was a compromise between the operator of the previous restaurant on the site and the neighbors. The previous operator ran the business as a club, rather than a restaurant, and routinely kept it open well past the hours it was authorized. As far as I know, there is no connection between the folks who run Roosevelt's and the previous operator, and they should not be held responsible for the earlier zoning and noise violations. But the prior history does explain the neighbors' concerns.

You have to take it upon your self to notify the police each time they stay open also talk with you area rep not sure of your district I live in Westville. But own the property 758 &772-66-68 They are wrong for our neighborhood. I have contacted zoning but have not heard back. Don't wait call the police. Further they are not licensed for dancing or music . Good luck!

from the New Haven Independent today: "That night, around 11:20, gunfire erupted by Roosevelt’s Bar on State Street at Bradley. “Arriving officers encountered a large crowd. They were patrons at the bar’s ‘White Party’ (a themed party at which patrons are dressed in all white). It took officers some time to disperse the crowds and search for evidence. None were very cooperative when questioned about the gunfire. No evidence could be found. Witnesses did report gunfire.” according to Hartman."

In New Haven Register article the shooting at Roosevelts is possibly connected to man shot at Popeyes on Whalley Ave according to witnesses.

To all : zoning ordanaces are put in place prior to receiving a LICENCE to operate This licence is not a NIGHT CLUB NOR DOES ZONING GIVE THEM APROVAL TO DO SO. Please write or call the zoning board to handle this matter. The residences of Bradley and State St should not be subject to illegal operations at Rossevelts. I am sure you are aware of " SHOTS FIRED" not surprising when there is illegal activity. Please stand together so we can have this menis removed from our neighborhood. If there is anyone who would like them to move to their neighborhood give them a call. I also understand the WHITE PARTY ther were underage patrons.

Sylvia, you are correct. They run Roosevelts like a night club. The night that there was gunshots Roosevelts had a bouncer at the door and music blasting from inside. I don't know of any "restaraunts" that have bouncers and music that can be heard halfway down the block. Now it isn't just them breaking every condition they agreed upon to get a permit to open but is also a saftey concern as well. Quality of life is greatly impacted by all these issues
