While the faces of the current set of panhandlers has changed, they are just as plentiful as before. We know they use the walk light button to impede traffic and today we witnessed the effect of that. A mother with her baby carriage proceeded to cross Orange Street with the walk light and 3 cars turned left during the walk light across her path. There are numerous bits of information out there about these panhandlers: that they live on Winthrop Avenue, they take the bus home, they make at least $60/hour, they have alternate bicycles for their use, they use elicit drugs, they park their drug paraphernalia in surrounding properties.
Does this current administration have a plan on dealing with this?
