On the curb lawn opposite 108 North Sycamore, branches and limbs that were blown down by a storm or dumped in the street have been put in a pile for the city to pick up.
Does the do anything proactively? Like clean up blown down branches and limbs after a storm or do they wait for citizens to report issues and then respond?

The City operates a compost center on Division Drive for residents. The compost Center takes leaves, grass, and brush. The City schedules a brush pickup in the spring and leaf pickup in the fall. All other times it is the responsibility of the homeowner to take care of it. There are times the City declares a brush pickup due to a city-wide storm with multiples trees and limbs down. That has not occurred this spring.

Listen Mike, it is more than obvious that you fail to understand the situation. I don't think you actually took the time to read the report, and fail to realize the branches were removed from the street after being blown down or dumped in the street.
The limbs and branches were removed from the street to help people drive down the street. I find it hard to believe it is the position of the city that they won't help a homeowner who was trying to help the city.
If this is the official position of the City of Marshall, I will be more than happy to put the branches back to in the middle of in the street.
It is NOT the homeowners responsibility to clear the streets!
Unfortunately, I am out of town on July 6th and will not be able to make that City Commission meeting, but I have put the City Commission meeting on July 20th on my calendar, and will address your repeated failures of satisfactory job performance at that meeting.

Here's a photo of the pile.
You can see branches in the street in the background; if this is the acceptable condition the city of Marshall thinks the street should have, in the future I will leave ALL fallen limbs, branches, sticks, twigs and discarded brush that was dumped near my house in the street.

Sorry to hear about the damage to your family members car. I believe it is city of Marshall policy that your family will have to drive more carefully to avoid debris in the road..
I have read my way through the City of Marshall Code of Ordinances and can find no reference to substantiate Mike Hackworth; Marshall DPW Manager's claim that the removal of brush, branches and limbs in the road are the responsibility of the homeowner, but his statement above seems to indicate this is Marshall City policy
I took care of my pile of brush, branches and limbs that were removed from the street after recent storms, however, in the future, I will never remove even a twig from the road.
It is not my job to maintain the streets of Marshall.

What an amazingly feckless system this is.
The do nothing DPW administration has to do nothing to resolve a situation for a month, and the problem goes away.
Great system you have here.
Get a job in the real world, and keep this attitude, and soon, you would have no job.
