A crosswalk is needed across this section of 51st, as the closest ones are blocks away at Lawton or Broadway. This location at Coronado seems the safest as it splits the difference, has good visibility at the top of the hill, and could cut through the median to allow pedestrians a half-way refuge.

The median in the center of 51st here is also a serious impediment to a safe and accessible crossing.
Legal or not, I'm sure that most pedestrians would agree that one would be taking their like into their own hands trying to cross 51st here without any amenities like a painted crosswalk, a median cut-through, and ideally a rapid flashing beacon.
