I have re-opened this in hopes that it will help shelters reunite people with their friends sooner than later. Please keep this issue open for a few days so people can read this important message.
To all viewers and posters ...Although this site is very useful....It IS IMPERATIVE that you also call your local Animal Control/Shelter when you lose your pet...Zipper was found on Sunday and brought to the shelter by a good citizen....The New Haven Animal Shelter DOES NOT have internet access and will only be informed of lost pets if a staff member enters this site from home or remotely by cell, which will cause a delay with the return of your impounded pet or a possibility of the animal being adopted to a new family if we are not aware of the loss.
Zipper also had an unregistered microchip, due to minor fault of his owner, she was awaiting the information from whom she purchased him. Don't Wait. Take your dog to a veterinarians office or animal shelter to have the pet scanned so you can register the chip.
Registration is a very low cost for the lifetime of the pet. Zipper was very happy to see his mommy today. Better late than never but Zipper would have preferred to go home a lot sooner.
