Hi Ben i went and checked both overpasses and they looked ok the one on humphrey's st. has a little bit of trash from ice melting i will be sure to inform louis of it tomorrow for today is his scheduled day of from both gava and upper state st.
Gross! Apparently it isn't enough that these superhighways run through our communities, filling them with air pollution. Now the state neglects its responsibilities to maintain them as well. All of the overpasses and exit ramps in New Haven are accumulating trash.
The state already indirectly subsidizes suburban sprawl to the tune of billions of dollars per year -- does it really need to try to destroy the value of the remaining urban real estate as well?
I think that a new state law is needed, one which dedicates 10% of highway funding towards maintaining areas around highways, plus providing tax incentives to adjacent property owners and developers. Otherwise, properties adjacent to highways are going to end up abandoned, and empty lots near highways are never going to be developed.
Keep the highways, but make sure that they don't destroy the towns and cities that they run through.

The State has done an awful job at maintaining this property.
